Welcome to Mireya Campos Art, where creativity flourishes through vibrant oil paintings and innovative mixed media works.

Mireya Campos is a Mexican American artist whose work reflects a lifetime shaped by visual art, dance, travel, and cultural heritage. Trained from an early age by her father in Mexico City, she also studied at La Esmeralda, one of Mexico’s most distinguished art schools, before pursuing careers in both visual arts and professional dance.
Working with oil, acrylic, and mixed media, Campos creates richly textured paintings inspired by people, places, and personal memories. She often incorporates fabrics, jewelry, found objects, and symbolic elements into her work, adding layers of meaning that invite viewers to look more closely. Her Mexican roots and life in the United States come together in a vibrant visual language she describes as “Meximalist.”
Campos has exhibited widely, including solo exhibitions in Columbus, Ohio, and has served as a resident artist at Shadowbox Live. In 2025, she received the Best Emerging Artist award at the Columbus Arts Festival, recognizing her growing presence in the contemporary art community.
Currently, has participated at The Columbus Arts Festival, 2026. This year marks 12 year as visual artist at ShadowboxLive in Columbus.

Artist Statement
I love painting portraits, specially Frida Kahlo’s portraits. I mostly paint with oils, acrylics, and fabrics. I love to include meaningful objects, found stuff, coins, and elements to tell a story. I also portrait urban landscapes from every place I have lived. I love to paint Columbus, a beautiful city where I developed my professional art career. New York is one of my main subjects, where the opportunities are for those who live and die for art, exactly what I do. Creating art is my passion!
I find inspiration in people, places, and life experiences. Frida Kahlo has been my inspiration for long time, since I was a student at “La Esmeralda” place she used to teach. It inspires me the fact that she painted suffering of pain, dealing with the challenges women have to overcome in an art world ruled by man.
Being Mexican, American, my Latin roots and my adult life in United States have defined my style as Meximalist-maximalist.I have also strong influence by travels, situations, love affairs, love for my son, and love for life. Everyday is an inspiration!
